Student Needs at a Glance
Have you ever looked at your class list and wished that students' needs would stand out on the page so that you could make informed decisions quickly?
With the desire to provide a digital solution that supports visualizing jagged student profiles, we offer another demonstration of how WeCollab might display the diversity of student needs in different focus areas.
Elaborating on the Jagged Profile
We note again that every learner has a jagged profile, with areas of strength and areas of challenge that shape who we are.
In the previous post, we discussed the visualization of jagged student profiles on Team Boards. Mentioned briefly were the Student Card Icons, visual indicators that might apply to the programming needs of students in a specific focus area. It is here we will further elaborate on this feature in WeCollab and how it contributes to the Student Profile and the Team Boards.
Student Card Icons
Please visit the User Support Site and search "Student Card Icons" for details on how to configure this feature (a functionality limited to those with District Leader or School Leader permissions) and how to use this feature within the Student Profile.
Configuring Student Card Icons
Student Card Icons can be configured by users with District Leader or School Leader permissions. It is during this process that determination must be made for each focus area: which image, in what colour, with what label, makes sense for users to be able to select when communicating the complexity of student needs?
Selecting Student Card Icons in the Student Profile
By expanding the Entry Levels, Tiers of Supports, Student Card Icons bar in the Student Profile, the area to select Student Cards Icons is revealed.
Student Needs at a Glance
Within the Student Profile, the top left corner demonstrates the Tier of Support a student is receiving and the associated Student Card Icons in that focus area. Using the drop down menu available, one can easily change things to see the details in other focus areas.
On the Team Board, the Student Card represents a compilation of details about the student's programming.
The card itself appears in the Tier of Support that the student is receiving for the identified Focus Area, corresponding with colour in the top left corner of the Student Profile. The tab on the left corner of the Student Card represents the Entry Level for the Focus Area that is identified in the Student Profile. The Student Card Icons appear along the bottom of each student's card, when they have been selected in the Student Profile.
When the Focus Area for the Team Board is changed using the drop down menu at the top, the Student Cards reshuffle to be in the appropriate Tier of Support and display the details described above that pertain to that Focus Area.
When viewing the Team Board, the Student Card Icons provide a visual indicator of students' needs, designed in WeCollab to empower users as they are able to quickly see the complexity of the group at a glance.
