Does your Collaborative Team Meeting process provide an opportunity to identify a key issue students may be facing? Is time embedded in the meeting for brainstorming possible resolutions to the key issue?
Are you looking for suggestions for supports when having an individual student meeting?
The updated (Fall 2022) WeCollab software has built-in solutions.
Conducting Meetings
Please visit the User Support Site and search "Collaborative Team Meeting" or "Individual Student Meeting" for details on how use this feature.
Key Issues
The WeCollab software now provides a space to specifically identify a key issue in a few short words, with further text entry for the context of the key issue.
Suggestions
When a key issue is entered, to the right of the entry there will be a blue "Suggested" menu available to expand.
When expanded, the system will offer suggestions based on the key issue from both the school's embedded Continuum of Supports (if they have been entered) as well as the WeCollab Student Support Network (the database of supports that have been compiled from all WeCollab users and then vetted by Jigsaw Learning).
The checkboxes allow for the selection of the support to be applied to the student(s) being discussed in the meeting. If selecting from the WeCollab Support Network, the Focus Area and Tier of Support will be prompted for identification to align with the school. From there is it is a matter of identifying the start date and the review date for the support, and who will be responsible for ensuring those tasks take place.
Brainstorming
Sometimes the suggestions made by system are not quite enough to address the key issue, so there is opportunity to brainstorm other ideas for action. In the same expanded menu, space is provided to enter other possibilities freely without commitment at the moment.
This space will also list previously brainstormed actions that may have been considered for this key issue.
Clicking on the + sign will then add the action to the meeting note so that a commitment can be made by an adult to complete the action by a specific date for the student(s) being discussed.
Meeting the Needs of Users
While the intention of the Collaborative Team Meeting and the Individual Student Meeting is to focus on identifying and meeting the needs of learners, the WeCollab system is honed in on identifying and meeting the needs of its users. Over time, as the process of these meetings has been refined, the design needs of the software have been considered so that they might reflect this more robust process. Designed (and redesigned) by educators for educators, we at Jigsaw Collaborative Solutions aspire to ensure WeCollab continues to be a tool to enhance Collaborative Response structures and processes.
