Student Support Effectiveness
Have you ever found yourself wondering "Is this support effective for this student?" Have you considered how impactful a support might be as it is implemented across your school or district?
The Student Support Effectiveness Report in WeCollab may provide details into making informed decisions about supports.
The Student Support Effectiveness Report
Please visit the User Support Site and search "Generate Reports" for step-by-step instructions on how to access this report as well as many others.
This particular report will provide a table of the supports selected School's Student Support List to be used to ensure student success, the number of current students who have the support in place, the number of students who have had the support in the past, and the overall (average) effectiveness rating.
Making the Most of the Student Support Effectiveness Report
The information gleaned from this report is only as good as the data that has been entered into WeCollab. To maximize the quality of this report, it is important that staff take the opportunity to rate the supports for the students as they are kept in place (because they are working for that student) or ended (because the support has achieved its goal with that student or that the support is not working for that student).
The rating system operates on a scale of stars.
The stars can be selected when updating a support in the student profile.
A pop up window displays the details of the Support: the name of the support, the Focus Area of the support, the Tier in which the support is categorized, the description of the support, and any resources that have been identified as pertaining to the support.
The rating can be identified by clicking to indicate the number of stars the support should receive.
A Comment box is provided to enter text to further add context to the rating of the effectiveness, and then the support can be saved to the student profile to ensure continued success or ended as it is no longer needed.
NOTE: Rating the effectiveness of a support serves not only to identify what works for the individual student but also contributes to the schoolwide and districtwide reports regarding the effectiveness of supports in a broader sense.
Making Informed Decisions
The Student Support Effectiveness Report may point to opportunities where supports that are being identified for only a few students are highly effective and perhaps may be accessed more often to enhance student success. A support that is ineffective may indicate a need for professional learning around the implementation of the the support or perhaps an opportunity to divert energies and resources into a support that is more effective for students. While the report can provide the information, it is the interpretation of the details and the actions taken as a result that will have an impact on student success!
